<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Looking back at my posts, I realize that my intended short break from keeping up with this blog turned into almost a year break! The above quote seems appropriate somehow! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">If I tried to update everything over the past year I'd be writing for days! It's been a great year... a few high spots, a few low spots; however, overall a great year! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">RJ is ready for 7th grade in a few short weeks. He has discovered a new passion for Golf. We have spent plenty of time at the driving range lately! Mr. Woods and I are trying to survive the juggling of family, church, fitness, etc.. The list could on and be quite boring! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">My time at BA Fitness is amazing as always. Classes are filling back up with the close of summer vacations. Our CEO is coming up with new creative class designs all the time. Recently, we launched a "Girl Power Camp". Myself and the other Coaches didn't know quite what to expect when we opened to the doors to the sweet little girls. Our summers have been blessed by spending 4 nights a week for 4 weeks with these families and their daughters. We have been able to share our passion of faith and fitness through a whole new avenue. I love how they listen so intently to the lessons and repeat the stories to their parents. I love their passion for tackling a new workout! Last night they told us that Shockwave and Row were among the favorites of all the workouts. The camp was even featured in the local newspaper, here's the story :<a href="http://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/2015/07/20/girl-power-summer-camp-inspires-young-girls/30419995/" target="_blank"> http://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/2015/07/20/girl-power-summer-camp-inspires-young-girls/30419995/</a>. The camp ends on Thursday, I think it's safe to none of us are ready for it to come to an end! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span><br /><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Running
is just that...running. I had a great spring race season only to end up
in a boot due to a stress fracture for a few weeks. I tried my best to maintain my upper body and core strength during my time in the boot. Summer training is taking it's toll but how
can it not with 95% humidity on most mornings that our group takes on
the pavement. We call it the "summer slowdown" with high hopes that it
will make us faster in the fall. I'm currently training for another Half Marathon. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I
told the girls after last year's Women's Running Series Half Marathon in
Nashville, TN that I was officially retiring from anything over a 10K. </span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">A year later, I couldn't pass up the appeal of a hometown run in the fall, my favorite time of year in Tallahassee! </span></span>I have registered for the <a href="https://race131.com/races/Race-13-1-Tallahassee-FL" target="_blank">Race 13.1</a> in Tallahassee on November 15, 2015. August 1st started my training for this half marathon, I suspected many of my upcoming blog posts will be about that training! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I look forward to being back in the "blog world" and sharing with you the excitement of all things family, faith and fitness from the Woods' household! </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Trouble…that explains a lot! </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Well the day has finally arrived, later this evening the Badass Babes head out for Nashville, TN!! We will drive as far as we can tonight…yeah we have no reservations for this evening. If you've been reading this blog for awhile then you may think this sounds familiar! You may remember that Shannon and Allison talked me into this spontaneous experience<a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2013/10/wrs-nashville-recap.html" target="_blank"> last year</a>, too. We wound up in Hover, Al at a decent Hampton Inn. We will see what tonight holds…it will be a hotel with doors on the inside I can promise!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Our team of 6 has endured a hectic few weeks including a car accident, falling during a training run, not so good test results and overall stressful craziness. However, not of all our news is bad news! We have also experienced extreme happiness over our friend Ashleigh-Anne getting her liver! That's right our girl has a new liver and is in Nashville where we can visit with her. We also have been able to celebrate Mrs. Watson being cancer free. Those two moments alone have kept us going through all the extra hassles of life. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I'm a little nervous about running the race this weekend & suggest that you do not look for a recap that includes a time or pace PR. That's just not in the future for this particular race. You can be on the lookout for a weekend recap of our adventures. We will be touring the Opry and doing a little shopping at Opry Mills. We will be eating at places such as Puckett's, Loveless Cafe, The Stockyard, The Palm…and wherever else we decide to enjoy a yummy meal. We will take in the Johnny Cash Museum and the Country Music Hall of Fame. We will be exploring Broadway and Union Station, Shannon will learn to love country music this weekend! We will be visiting Ashleigh-Anne and her Mama. Most of we will be enjoying time with each other and letting our hair down a little bit! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Our goal is to rest our minds, not so much our bodies, ha. We will come back rejuvenated and ready to take on the rest of fall with a vengeance! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So girls grab your boots it's time for the weekend!! </span></div>

<a href="http://womensrunning.competitor.com/nashville" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NGGDRBKshJw/VA786iDA-mI/AAAAAAAAB4s/4Si78jQKpUE/s1600/10636192_10152693865637446_2518708648303129117_n.jpg" height="118" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Yeah, so today as Allison and I had a little quiet training time, we realized there's only 18 days until the <a href="http://womensrunning.competitor.com/nashville" target="_blank">Women's Running Series Half Marathon</a> in Nashville….insert the heart pounding & heavy breathing & major giggles from the two of us! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I see several of my Badass Babes teammates putting in crazy miles in preparation for the race. I, on the other hand, have had little time and even less motivation for the long training runs. To date the longest run I have completed is 8 miles. Yes, I should be a panicked disaster; however, I am not. I will not let the stress of the "race" turn me into a crazed maniac the next 18 days. Let's be honest, it's not like I am sitting on the couch saying "hey girls, let's go run 13 miles in 2 weeks with zero training!". I am putting in my cross training time. I am concentrating on being a strong coach in my classes. I am doing pretty good with my diet, minus the tailgate this past weekend. Oh and I am running when I can! I just refuse to let the stress of training take away my focus for participating in this race! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">In 2013 I fell in love with city of Nashville, it's beautiful! Allison, Shannon and I have stated before this was our </span><a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2013/10/wrs-nashville-recap.html" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;" target="_blank">favorite</a><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> of all the run-cations we took last year. What is my focus of this race weekend?…for me it is not about 13.1 miles, it's about celebrating life and friendship with some amazing ladies. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This particular race is special! I did set a half marathon PR at this race last year. We celebrated my friend Ashleigh Anne and her journey to new a liver continues so we will celebrate her again!! Our prayers have been that AAKH and her new liver would be at the finish line: however, there's a reason God hasn't answered that prayer yet. I secretly pray she gets that liver in the next 18 days so that we can love on her a little more while in TN. (guess it's not a secret anymore, ha!)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">My focus even got a little jolt in August as one of my best friend's called me to tell her mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Crystal is a runner herself and hoped to make the Nashville trip this year, due to her Mom's diagnosis and her starting back to school she won't make the 7 hr trek with us. She may not be with us in a physical sense she will be with us in our hearts! Mrs. Watson's surgery is this coming Thursday - Sept 11th. By the power of prayer we all trust God has a great plan for her and her family! The Badass Babes will be there every step of the way! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I am excited to see what Nash-Vegas holds for the Badass Babes this year. I will run/walk the WRS Half Marathon to honor my friend Ashleigh-Anne and Mrs. Watson. No, I am not thinking a sub 2:18 course PR is in my future; however, I do think a different kind of PR will occur for that I will send praise. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Here's my favorite picture from last year…can't wait to snap it again with few more babes! </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">So to my girl Allison…looks like we will be giggling our way through 13.1 miles. Hey, maybe this year we will see Tim, Kenny or Jake on Music Row! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I wonder if this is all happening because of an action on my part (or maybe lack of an action). Have I become complacent?<br /><br />There are times when I look around me and it's amazing to see how awesome life is cruising along. Not only for me but family and friends! Everyone seems happy and content….isn't that how life should be? Many of my friends are taking on new adventures, accomplishing bucket list items and seeing such bright futures!<br /><br />Certainly, I can't be the only one with types of thoughts… maybe I am! Lately, I have questioned my parenting - 6th grade brings about some new and exciting experiences! I have found myself wondering if I am where I need to be physically to be a successful member of the Badass Fitness staff. I have thought deeply about many other things as well! I think God allows us to wonder about such things so that we can see areas in our life that could use a little adjusting. I think he wants us to find ways to challenge ourselves. Let's face it, I work better under pressure, ha! I think this is how we grow as Christians, Families and Friends.<br /><br />I often remind myself to let it go, put a smile on my face and trust that through the valley's and the peak's God has a great plan. According to this verse he does have a mighty plan: "</span><i style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">For I know the plans I have for you,</i><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">” says the Lord. “</span><i style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.</i><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">" Jeremiah 29:11.</span><br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Do you find yourself with the same questions? Remember, God has a plan..oh and we're in this together!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Pretty sure I need this tattooed on my forehead - LOL! </span></div>

I really need the clock to slow down just a bit! Our trip to Atlanta for the Peachtree Road Race was one that we will not soon forget! We came away with so many hilarious memories and stories to tell…oh and all the new hashtags! The group of 11 definitely made the most of 4 days in Atlanta. </span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Can we talk about the weather? The weather was PERFECT the entire weekend. We were quite spoiled by those temps in the month of July. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We also left the Peachtree Road Race with several PR's! In 2013 I finished in 1:07:21, this year I finished under an hour at 57:31! Just goes to show how much the cross training and better nutrition has aided my running ability! Needless to say we are still laughing at the events of this trip and we're already planning our return in July 2015. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The rest of the month has been days of sitting poolside and being thankful to be together! This summer has not provided much vacation time for Scott and I; however, we have taken advantage of the beautiful beaches that are only a day trip away from us. We may not have taken a "big trip" but we sure have enjoyed the slower pace of summertime weekends!! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Now, it's August! We will celebrate Scott's 40th birthday this weekend. And, we're only 10 days away from meeting Riley's 6th homeroom teacher. That means we're 12 days away from him official starting middle school. EEK! I am off to shed a few more tears! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">While Riley has been wrapping up the end of his summer, I completed another <a href="https://www.trxtraining.com/" target="_blank">TRX</a> certification, making the <a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/" target="_blank">Badass Fitness</a> studio one of the few in town that offer the TRX Team format. I can't wait to see what this new level of training will mean for our clients as we begin to implement that training into our classes. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">During our weekend downtime at the pool or by the ocean I had a little time to reflect on my goals. I have to say that I am on track to accomplishing most, if not all, of them by the end of the year. None of this would be possible without trusting and having faith in God. While somethings didn't go as I had planned (or wanted), I know in my heart there's a reason. I'm excited to see what else God has planned for our little family of three and the team at Badass Fitness! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">First, this little tradition of going to Atlanta for July 4th started when Scott and I were dating in 2010. It was our first road trip, clearly we had a blast because I didn't try to kill him in Atlanta traffic! We enjoyed lots of All-American activities, none more so than the Braves game! </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sCpDOT4Nwqg/U7QaXM6mJCI/AAAAAAAAB0Q/AcT5oeSBi_A/s1600/36987_10100265482073643_7390493_n-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sCpDOT4Nwqg/U7QaXM6mJCI/AAAAAAAAB0Q/AcT5oeSBi_A/s1600/36987_10100265482073643_7390493_n-2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">July 2010 - Turner Field</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Second, the running of the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th in Atlanta started in 2011 as a bit of a joke between Scott, myself and the Carter's. The four of us learned a lot about running and preparation for big races during our first time participating in the largest 10K in the world! On our drive home Allison and I committed to embarking on a mission to never be that ill-prepared again! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AkAFDtM8JJQ/U7Qa9XHz5QI/AAAAAAAAB0Y/xO-laDlG8FQ/s1600/278780_10100903785932593_6273872_o-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AkAFDtM8JJQ/U7Qa9XHz5QI/AAAAAAAAB0Y/xO-laDlG8FQ/s1600/278780_10100903785932593_6273872_o-2.jpg" height="234" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Start Line Peachtree Road Race 2011</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Third, we have convinced a few people to join us throughout the years! The first of those was Brandi, the following year it was Shannon & Ieva. Now, this year we have grown to a team of 14! Yep, 13 BadassBabes and 1 BadDude are taking on the PRR this Friday morning. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">PRR 2013 - Rainy Hot - FUN! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Watch out Atlanta… the Badass Babes and Dudes will be there tomorrow! I</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> have no idea what the weekend will hold for us, well sort of but you never "really" know until it's over! I do know this, I can't think of a better way to spend July 4th weekend than celebrating my freedom to run, be happy and to do all this with a pretty amazing hubby and awesome friends. I praise God that I live in a country where men and women fight daily for my continued freedom to worship freely, to share new experiences with family (and our friends), to run when and wherever I want. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I always shed a tear or two at the beginning of the Peachtree Road Race as they play the anthem and have a local pastor bless the course for us, this year will be no different. I'm a very blessed! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Scott and I wish that RJ could go with us on this little vacation, we know he has some awesome plans with his Dad's family. There are few friends that I wish could make this trip with us; however, they will be beachside running their own Firecracker 5K on Friday morning…Crystal and Christina I can't wait for a race report! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I hope each have a great July 4th celebration surrounded by family and friends. Above all else don't forget to thank God and a Veteran for your freedom to celebrate! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Be on the lookout for a post - weekend update next week! It's sure to be full of a fun stories! </span></div>

I find it funny the last post I wrote was after a spring trip to visit GiGi and Grandfather. Scott and I just returned from their house late yesterday, too. We attended my 20th high school reunion, check back later for the post with stories from the weekend! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Life has been crazy for us lately so I will give you a quick highlight of the past two months!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i><br /></i></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>Riley</i> - Successfully graduated 5th grade and is gearing up Middle School. His baseball team won the North West Little League championship and he made the Allstar team as well! We are at the ball field a few nights a week but he loves it! Riley is also enjoying several camps throughout these summer months. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>Scott</i> - Well, he is wonderful as always! He is getting back to a somewhat normal routine of running and hitting the gym after the baseball season craziness. He is my rock during the good, the bad and the ugly! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>Me</i> - I have been learning how to transition from a <a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/" target="_blank">Badass Fitness</a> Student to becoming a Badass Fines Instructor. I am teaching a few classes a week since in the past few months I have completed more certifications. I have added BOSU, Kamagon and TRX to the list - whew, I should've posted about each of those experiences! My "day job" is going pretty well, too. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I have been a busy working mom and loving life!! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> All in all life is good - just wild! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ir8K6PWxHB0/U6g9xM9wUBI/AAAAAAAABz4/OTRQz9b_ii0/s1600/10330433_10104575944292803_7243416766139809141_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ir8K6PWxHB0/U6g9xM9wUBI/AAAAAAAABz4/OTRQz9b_ii0/s1600/10330433_10104575944292803_7243416766139809141_n.jpg" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Clearly, we are enjoying a few poolside weekends, too! </span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As we were heading home yesterday from South Florida I had a chance to reflect over the past weeks and of course my brain led me to the past few weeks at Badass Fitness. The studio is expanding and things are very exciting! It's awesome to stand beside our dear friend, <a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/2014/06/reading-signs-making-larabar/" target="_blank">Shannon</a>, as she watches her dream come true. We have to remind her to breathe sometimes! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As the studio expands so does our client list. We recently kicked off another round of <a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2014/01/back-to-tabata.html" target="_blank">Tabata Bootcamp</a> with several new friends taking part in the fun. If you have read this blog before then you know part of the program is an assessment every two weeks. We track weight, measurements and strength gains. The first assessments are always nerve-racking, even for the most strong willed people! This past week it was time for the second of these assessments. The other Coaches and I watched as people struggled with the numbers they saw on the scale. We grew frustrated for them, this frustration is what inspired to me write this blog today…by the way I <a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2013/06/constant-chatter_13.html" target="_blank">wrote</a> about this same topic a year ago, too! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I have been a student of Shannon's for almost two years. I hated the scale when I met her and I hate it today. Do I look different than when I started working out with Shannon? YES! Do I feel different after all these workouts and trainings? YES! Do my clothes fit better? YES! Is the number of the scale lower? NO! That's right, the number on the scale today is no different. It has fluctuated from time to time but as of today it's the exact same. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I feel better and have more energy than when I first joined Badass Fitness. I took the leap from student to instructor and I am loving it! I love seeing the smile on the face of a friend when she conquers the almighty Tabata Tricep Hover, I love the celebrating with my BRB as she wins first in her age group, I love hearing the excitement from another friend as she does a pull-up for the first time - I am not even sure I can do one successfully! The scale can't celebrate those accomplishments with these girls but I can! The scale won't celebrate with my friend as she puts on a skirt that is two sizes smaller or another friend who is already back in IndoRow class only 2 weeks after his knee surgery. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Friends, the scale does not own you - if you don't let it. It is only a number! I had the most fun today as we broke a scale, that's right we kicked it in the face! If you have a chance today or this week watch this <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152288180913473" target="_blank">video</a> and kick the scale! I shared the video with this post earlier today: "<span style="background-color: white; color: #141823; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;"><i>I weigh the same as I did one year ago; I can fit into my senior prom dress; I have run multiple half marathons; I've checked several fitness certifications off my bucket list. My reasons to kick the scale in the face could go on for days!! </i></span><i style="color: #141823; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;">What do I want you take away from this video? Don't let the number on the scale own you, it knows nothing!"</i><span style="color: #141823; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;"><i>. </i></span></span><br />

Florida. It was a whirlwind trip but totally worth it! </span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Our little Boston Terrier, Zoe, usually doesn't travel with is but her favorite sitter had surgery last week. We couldn't dare ask Aunt Crystal to take on Zoe for 3 days after the week she had. We quickly concluded Zoe isn't a traving dog!! W</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">e arrived at my parents to a yummy Lobster Clam Bake dinner! One thing is for sure <a href="http://www.newenglandfish.net/index.php" target="_blank">New England Fish Market</a> puts together the best cans as they're called. After dinner Riley went for a swim in Grandfathers pool while we visited with my parents. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Night Swim Fun</span></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The alarm went off on Saturday morning at 4:30am just like it does every day, ha! We had to get RJ up and to go fishing with Uncle Phillip for the day. The two of them had been looking forward to this fishing trip for long time. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">RJ and Phillip</span></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">After they left, GiGi took me and Scott to Jensen Beach High School for the Home Run 8K. This was race was my first race in "old stomping grounds". When I was in high school I ran track but was a sprinter. I was never interested in long distance running of any kind. It was exciting to take part in a local race and support the family of a former Florida State Baseball player. The 8K was the 1st race that <a href="http://mesteamfoundation.org/" target="_blank">ME's Team</a> has organized with the help of the folks at Fleet Feet Stuart. ME's Team is run by Scott Proctor a former pitcher at FSU who began the foundation after his daughter suffered a heart defect at birth. Scott and his team of volunteers did a great job from race day registration to really great swag to a well laid out finish area, I was surprised to find out it was their first race as directors. The course was flat and fast. I had a great run & received a lovely reminder that I've not run in the humidity in quite awhile. Clearly, my body needs an adjustment period, ha! I kept my pace around a 9 minute mile and only missed 3rd in my age group by 20 seconds! 20 seconds, urgh!!! (There's always next year right??) The attendance for the run was smaller than they had hoped; however, I have no doubt that it will be bigger each year they host it. I loved seeing my Mom and Husband at the finish line. They were both camera ready, it was pretty cute to see! I could've smiled at the finish line but all I could think about was breathing and getting a cold bottle of water! My official time was 44:49. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Finish Line via GiGi... I was just focused on breathing! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This would've been great had I smiled at her, HA! </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">After the race was complete we ran a few quick errands before we headed back to Moms to enjoy the pool. The remainder of the day we laid around on the deck by the pool. It was quiet and calm, two things that we don't get very often. Unfortunately, I applied too much sunscreen and you can hardly tell my fair skin spent 4 & 1/2 hours in the sun. I'm severely jealous of my husband who has a nice tan started, it's just not fair! L</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">ater in the day the two fishermen arrived empty handed! They didn't much care, they had a blast. Uncle Phillip told us about their day. They had a blast hanging out on the water for the day! They're already trying to plan another adventure this summer! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Today, we made our way back home but not without an outlet stop! Riley and I racked up at the Under Armour Store. We found tons of sale items to add to our collections while Zoe and Scott explored the outside vendors. It was a fun day with my two fellas! I took advantage of the long ride home to work on my class plans for this upcoming week as well. Just one less thing I need to worry about in all the craziness, whew! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Lots of fun planned for the week! </span></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Weekends like this are grand slams for this Momma. We were able to spend quality time with my family while also relaxing. While I wish I had gotten a little more sun I enjoyed sitting beside the still waters of the pool. It allowed me time to relax the body, the mind and the soul. I'm home feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the next few weeks!! </span><br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tMEZ0-K2jqM/UzwHae2OxgI/AAAAAAAABuc/-ILoYJtBUPY/s1600/7814a633bfb30324db812226d2168d3a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tMEZ0-K2jqM/UzwHae2OxgI/AAAAAAAABuc/-ILoYJtBUPY/s1600/7814a633bfb30324db812226d2168d3a.jpg" height="200" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was great to me! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">WOW! Where did the month of March go? It seems like yesterday I was preparing for all the craziness and now it's over! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">March brought a special birthday as Riley turned 11! It's so hard to believe he is about to be done with elementary school, eek. I am very proud of the young man he is becoming and I have no doubt he is ready for middle school - even if his Mom isn't. March was the end of basketball season as well as the opening day of little league baseball! From one sport to the next this little guy keeps me busy. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UJIb9OYssjc/Uzw93MZsUII/AAAAAAAABu4/jzBl0ET0Tdc/s1600/1924645_10104326799421123_1430581640_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UJIb9OYssjc/Uzw93MZsUII/AAAAAAAABu4/jzBl0ET0Tdc/s1600/1924645_10104326799421123_1430581640_n.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The birthday boy</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">March also brought the completion of two goals for 2014. I received my <a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2014/03/tabata-certification-accomplished.html" target="_blank">Tabata</a> certification and began teaching at the Badass Fitness studio. This was a great experience and I love being on the instructor end of the spectrum! Sharing my passion for fitness is just an awesome experience all around. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I also had a little running success during the month of March. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I defeated the "Green Monster" by completing the </span><a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2014/03/we-did-it.html" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;" target="_blank">Gate River Run</a>. I also<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> pushed myself to a new <a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2014/03/scurry-recap.html" target="_blank">5K</a> and <a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2014/03/trbc-10k.html" target="_blank">10K</a> PR. I</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">t was an awesome month! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">These were all great races and I am blessed to have celebrated both of those accomplishments with friends and family after the races. Spring running around N. Florida is just so exciting as there is a race every single weekend. I wish I could run them all but that's not always possible!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Now it's April and it has arrived with a bang! I am "fresh" off a <a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/2014/04/bosu-schwinn-field-trip/" target="_blank">whirlwind trip</a> to Atlanta for the completion of BOSU certification. It might have been the quickest trip ever but it was awesome! I learned so much in the 8 hour class and I can't wait to share this knowledge with our friends at Badass Fitness. It's amazing what you can do on a BOSU to work your entire body. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">April will provide me a lot of time to enjoy the outdoors as we spent two nights a week at the ball field! I can't wait to watch my boy play ball with his buddies! I also plan to get back to my running. Even though I experienced a few great races last month I did miss my goal of running 100 miles in March. I just am not motivated to run right now so I will focus on that motivation for a few weeks. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">April most importantly will provide me the opportunity for much needed family time. We will go this weekend for one last birthday celebration for Riley. He gets to go fishing with Uncle Phillip then have a fancy dinner out with GiGi and Grandfather. At the end of the month we will celebrate Easter, the time of celebration focused around our Risen Savior. Have a mentioned I love this time of year?! </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It is 4 months into 2014, how are your goals coming along?! Have you set a goal or two that you are not reaching? If you said yes then I encourage you to get focused toward reaching it! Let's all keep each other accountable! </span></div>

Heck, where has the month of March gone?! I have been on the go lately and time seems to be slipping further away. For some reason mother nature can't figure out that March is supposed to be warm in Florida! So far it's been a cooler month than I feel is normal and I am over it! HA! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ynoMifmxmgA/UzLq1HhX_GI/AAAAAAAABuA/9Nm27bg6Jdg/s1600/1c6d78ee0fa23263a69ec51ab6615f8c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ynoMifmxmgA/UzLq1HhX_GI/AAAAAAAABuA/9Nm27bg6Jdg/s1600/1c6d78ee0fa23263a69ec51ab6615f8c.jpg" height="320" width="218" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">March has been full of fun with the family as we celebrated Riley's 11th birthday. It's been full of success in the fitness world. Certification is complete, classes are filling up and it's full speed ahead around the halls of Badass Fitness! The family has enjoyed some unexpected time together recently and my heart is full of happiness! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Not only is Shannon adding more classes to the schedule at <a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/2014/02/runners-knee-therapy-coach-harvey-fsu/" target="_blank">Badass Fitness</a> (more to come on that) but she and I are co-directing an upcoming 5K for <a href="http://www.mercyministries.org/" target="_blank">Mercy Ministries</a>. We had the pleasure of participating in the Run for Mercy 5K last year. It was a great event and we looked for ways to become more involved. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><i>What is Mercy Ministries?</i> Mercy is a free of charge program that serves young women facing life-controlling issues (i.e., eating disorders, self-harm, drug addiction, pregnancy, depression). Mercy has helped thousands of young women restore their life all while sharing the unconditional love of Christ with them. You can read more about Mercy and their mission to help these women on their website : <a href="http://www.mercyministries.org/">http://www.mercyministries.org</a>. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">You may be wondering why I sought a way to become involved with this particular event. Yes, I could continue to just run this local 5K every year; however, after I met <a href="http://www.nancyalcorn.com/" target="_blank">Nancy Alcorn</a> last year I knew I needed to do more for her organization. Nancy is amazing lady, the ultimate encourager! What she may not know is while I listened to her speak about the homes they have built and the lives they touched she touched mine as well. I will not go into great detail but while listening to her share stories, I felt like in one instance she was talking about an older version of me. A much younger version that didn't much care what people thought of me. A much younger version that did some things I would never think of doing now and deeply regret. I knew that day I needed to help her because I was blessed to have avoided the deep horror that many of these women experience. I had a family that supported me and friends that stood by me all those years ago. I had friends who drug me back to church and many of the women Nancy was speaking of didn't have that! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So fast forward a year later and here I am co-directing this event that is exactly one month away - April 26th! Shannon, myself and a few other ladies have been busy planning a race route, getting permits and trying to secure sponsors for this amazing event. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Here is where you come into the story! We can all play a part in helping these women and changing their stories. You can be a blessing in these ladies lives forever! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">If you have a business and can help with sponsoring the 5K, please contact me. All the money goes directly to Mercy Ministries to help build a home right here in Florida, in our own backyard actually! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">If you are a runner, please register for the 5K by clicking on this link : <a href="http://mmoa.convio.net/site/PageNavigator/RFM2013Florida">http://mmoa.convio.net/site/PageNavigator/RFM2013Florida</a>. We look forward to seeing you all out in Southwood next month!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Please join us in prayer as we head into the final stages of the event. Help us keep our focus on the reason for the event and get bogged down with the potential stress of planning. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wRk44s2xsYo/UysxrlQw6pI/AAAAAAAABtA/wLzn4Ii7Fc0/s1600/c5af89e11c39ff80a49fa6f0e9065d92.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wRk44s2xsYo/UysxrlQw6pI/AAAAAAAABtA/wLzn4Ii7Fc0/s1600/c5af89e11c39ff80a49fa6f0e9065d92.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This is quote is appropriate for today…</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Today is March 20th. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">More importantly is marks the 1st day of <span style="color: magenta;">Spring</span>!! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I live in Florida so we are blessed with beautiful weather but nothing is more gorgeous than North Florida during springtime. Crystal clear blue skies and everything in sight is blooming! It truly is my favorite time of year. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="color: magenta;">Spring</span> is great because it gives us a chance to celebrate a Risen Savior. Easter is arriving a little late this year but I am still focused on the reason for the season and I am happy to shout my Redeemer Lives! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hueNFM3_z4g/UyszGR0cZQI/AAAAAAAABtM/ctpO67IBbmc/s1600/0b66b6db9ecb6a0bea2d778700e7e9ff.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hueNFM3_z4g/UyszGR0cZQI/AAAAAAAABtM/ctpO67IBbmc/s1600/0b66b6db9ecb6a0bea2d778700e7e9ff.jpg" height="255" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="color: magenta;">Spring</span> shows us a new season of growth through all those beautiful plants and trees blooming around us. It provides us a chance to get outside and enjoy all of God's beautiful creations from beach days to floating in the pool. Wait, I mentioned I live in Florida why am I so excited about this weather? It does get cold here and I am done with the cold! Give me my bathing suit, warm temps and cold water then I will be a happy girl! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="color: magenta;">Spring</span> this year brings a new beginning for me as I taught my first Tabata Bootcamp class today. It has been a time of growth for me. I am excited to share my experience plus help our friends reach new goals over the next 8weeks! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="color: magenta;">Spring</span> also means it's time to celebrate Riley's birthday. He will turn 11 next Tuesday! Oh boy 11 I know will bring new challenges. I have no doubt we have many highs and a few lows as we close out his elementary school chapter and begin his middle school chapter. I can't wait to celebrate him next week! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="color: magenta;">Spring</span> brings on the racing season in our area. There's a local race every weekend through the month of May. You can have you pick of 5 K's and 10K's over the next few weeks. I won't participate in all of those but I'm excited to run several of them! I'm extremely excited to be putting the finishing touches on our <a href="http://mmoa.convio.net/site/PageServer?pagename=RFM2012HomePage" target="_blank">Run for Mercy 5K</a> on April 26th. (N. Florida friends, click here to sign up if you haven't already : <a href="http://mmoa.convio.net/site/PageServer?pagename=RFM2012HomePage">http://mmoa.convio.net/site/PageServer?p…</a>)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So on this beautiful first of spring I say bring on the Spring Round of Tabata Bootcamp, the sun, the sand, the bathing suits, the Lilly patterns, the white clothes below the waist and most of all the celebration of Easter and our Savior!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Happy Spring My Friends! </span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05395110758100072118noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3364113809337747919.post-18022259766010060352014-03-18T09:59:00.003-04:002014-03-18T09:59:54.076-04:00We did it!! <span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Last Friday evening the Badass Babes took <a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2014/03/off-to-another-race.html" target="_blank">off on another racing road trip</a>! After a super crazy week for all of us, it was all we could do to get on highway the Friday evening! We arrived in Jacksonville a little later than planned but that didn't stop us from kicking off the trip with a yummy meal at River City Brewing Company. Who cares that the service wasn't all that great, we still managed to make people stare at us with all our loud laughter!!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Friday evening ended with a little surprise trick pulled on me. I am usually the one surprising people but this time I was the one being spoiled! Stephanie, Tammie and Ashley gave me a new medal holder for all my race bling and a workout journal for recoding all my Tabata workouts for my upcoming classes. Yep, I cried..see below! These little gifts mean the world to me, thanks girls! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Trying to hide my tears! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Since the race didn't start til 8:30am and we were staying across the river from the start line we didn't have to get up extremely early. We woke up refreshed and ready to run the Gate River Run 15K. I don't know if was the excitement of only running 9 miles or knowing that at the end of the day I would get to relax after accomplishing a bucket list item but I was very calm that morning. This is not my usual pre-race behavior but I was ready to run! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">We made our way to Everbank Field, snapped a few photos then it was time to get in our corrals. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> (or the cargo cars as Crystal called us, ha!)</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The race started a tiny bit due to a terrible accident on the interstate. We heard the sound of a cannon and knew it was time to go. Us and 17,000 other runners weaved our way through downtown Jacksonville and over the Main Street Bridge. That bridge has grates on it so we had to watch our footing and by that I mean I held my pace buddy's, Becky, hand and didn't look down. Seriously, you could see the water below us - NO THANK YOU! From there we ran through the San Marco area out by the water through various other beautiful neighborhoods. At mile 7.5 we ran up the ramp to the Hart Bridge aka The Green Monster. This is where things could've gone bad. After a walk break, I repeated Hebrews 12:1 in my head while Karah and Becky yelled some encouraging words at me and off we went! Up the bridge we ran (we walked a little, too) then I looked over to my left and wow what a view! We made our way down the bridge to the finish line! We each commented at the top of the Green Monster on how blessed we were with a beautiful day to run. I wish we had gotten a picture of the view but we were just focused on getting to the finish. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I DID IT! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Becky, Karah and I crossed the finish line at 1:36 - give or take a second. Running those 9 miles without these two women would have been rough. We had so much fun! The time on the clock was not a PR for me but it was an accomplishment in other ways. I conquered my fear of running over a bridge of that size. I took on a new appreciation for my ability to be able to run. I had one of the most enjoyable races to date! When I say this was <u>fun</u>, I mean it! The supporters in Jacksonville know how to be the best cheerleaders, course encouragers. I decided I would be back to run this race before I ever received my medal in the finish line area! Congrats to the organizers of the GRR for an awesome race! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Check out this awesome medal! </span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">At the post race party I was able to celebrate all my friends and their PR's. I was able to celebrate Shannon's <a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/2014/03/green-monster-slaying-heavenly-sunrise/" target="_blank">pain free top 10% finish</a>. I teared up a little listening to my girl Crystal talk about how awesome her race was and celebrate her PR. It was a beautiful day not just because the sun was shining brightly but because everyone was smiling and happy! That means more to me than the time on any race clock, that's a special kind of PR! </span><br />

That could be a blog post all in itself. We had so much fun. Later that night we had an official celebration at Fionn MacCool's while enjoying a great Irish meal in honor of St. Patty's Day. Again, we shared our laughter with everyone around us! They loved us! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">While the rest of the crew headed home to Tallahassee or Gainesville, Crystal and I spent the day in St. Augustine. We did a little birthday shopping for RJ then went to St. George Street to enjoy a little dinner. The two of us always get into a little trouble together but it was so great to hang out for the day in one of our favorite spots! We even checked out a few of the hotels in hopes of planning a joint family vacation this summer. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Beautiful day by the bay</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I did it, now I want to do it again! I didn't push myself as hard I could have for this race because I wasn't sure I could get over that bridge. Funny, how it was the smaller of the two bridges that bothered me the most. I had been an emotional wreck on the bridge at the Donna and I was fearful that I would give up this time. I am blessed with an amazing group of encouragers who didn't let me quit or really even let me think about being on that bridge! I knew at the end I would be able to call my hubby and hear his excitement that I had done it. I knew I would be able to text my best running buddy and tell her I did it! What I didn't expect was a text from my son as I crossed the finish line asking how my race had gone. I was so excited to let him know the day had gone great and I was done! As I said before I was able to celebrate the ability to run and add a check next to a race on my bucket list. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">We have all agreed that the GRR needs to become an annual getaway! We never know what to expect at races that are new to us, this one is high on the list of the best. All the information we received leading up to the race was helpful. Race day was organized and thoughtfully planned. We will be back for GRR 2015 and beyond! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This was the last racing road trip that we have planned until July. It feels good to know we have some time train and get ready for our favorite local races. Plus who knows, we may find another one to run before July. I mean July is a few months off! LOL! </span></div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kgiRrJI-lEc/UyCL1w5wOQI/AAAAAAAABqA/uB2kumjWueM/s1600/884304c9c65f110e3e6e111560fe5eda.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kgiRrJI-lEc/UyCL1w5wOQI/AAAAAAAABqA/uB2kumjWueM/s1600/884304c9c65f110e3e6e111560fe5eda.jpg" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It looks like 2014 is moving full speed ahead to be the year of checking things off the bucket list! Back in January I made a list of goals and when looking back at that <a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2014/01/hello-2014.html" target="_blank">post</a> it seems as though I am on track to accomplish those goals plus a few extra ones, too. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This weekend will be another bucket list weekend! I have always been interested in participating in the <a href="http://www.gate-riverrun.com/" target="_blank"><b><i>Gate River Run 15K</i></b></a> and Saturday I will be running that very race! I mean really, I run the Peachtree Road Race every year and it's dubbed the largest 10K in the USA so why wouldn't I run the Gate River Run which is dubbed the largest 15K in the world?! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I decided in December that I wanted to run the Gate in 2014 but waited until January to actually register for it. If you have followed this blog then you realize I have a small fear of bridges, not driving over them walking/running over them. Registering for this race brought on anxiety as soon as I hit the confirm button. I quickly fired off an email to Scott and the BadassBabes to alert them of the purchase. They were all a little shocked but assured me this was going to happen and I could do it! In the past few weeks we have convinced quite a few other girls to join us as well. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Why did I have anxiety when I clicked on the confirmation button? Look at the course map… </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1FF8lCSU9b8/UyCN1RilBCI/AAAAAAAABqM/N7T6ET-qChY/s1600/10007475_764606353549693_519088457_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1FF8lCSU9b8/UyCN1RilBCI/AAAAAAAABqM/N7T6ET-qChY/s1600/10007475_764606353549693_519088457_n.jpg" height="292" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Do you see what I see? Two bridges over water - EEK! Yep, I will be running over both of those bridges. I'm familiar with the Main Street Bridge as it is near our preferred hotel and we have walked over it before. The Hart Bridge also known as the Green Monster is worrisome. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--UohHUnf8eA/UyCQvqc9JTI/AAAAAAAABqY/CExqtoqPpKk/s1600/HartBridgeJax.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--UohHUnf8eA/UyCQvqc9JTI/AAAAAAAABqY/CExqtoqPpKk/s1600/HartBridgeJax.jpg" height="125" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The Green Monster </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It's a little over a mile long, maybe longer I don't really want to know and it's tall! It happens to be at the end of the race so that's a plus. While I have anxiety I also have a sense of excitement. It may be the largest 15K in the USA but it won't stop our crew from making our mark on that course! I have no doubt that we have a great race recap after this one!!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We're off to Jacksonville later today and appreciate prayers for safe travels and happy running feet! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Bring on the miles with smiles, giggles and bridges! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Well, Sunday it was my turn! I attended my first fitness certification and it was amazing!! </span><div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/2014/01/santa-cruz-sunrises-tabata-bootcamp-inspiration-and-whole30-willpower/" target="_blank">Master Trainer</a> (and friend) Shannon and I left Tallahassee before sunrise on Sunday to drive over to Dothan, AL for the day long certification. We keep a similar schedule during the week so getting up early wasn't that hard for us! LOL! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I'm fortunate to have participated in 3 rounds of </span><a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2014/01/back-to-tabata.html" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;" target="_blank">Tabata Bootcamp</a><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> with her as my trainer so the actual movements were all very familiar to me. We managed to get in 3 full Tabata workouts and 1 set of partner drills throughout the day. WHEW, these legs were tired that evening, ha! </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The most interesting part of the training for me was learning how to establish a class plan and learning the history of <a href="http://www.tabatabootcamp.com/about-tabata-bootcamp.php" target="_blank">Tabata Bootcamp</a>. Thank goodness for a science experiment that showed the world what High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) could do for your body. I enjoyed hearing Shannon share stories of her time at the Master Trainer Summit where she spent a few days working with Mindy Mylrea and other Master Trainers around the country to make the program even stronger. I can't wait to meet Mindy myself as she is an inspiration to many of us. Her positive energy is infectious! I have participated in several bootcamp like programs and I can say there's nothing like this one. If you put in 8 weeks of good work and you see amazing results! </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">At the end of the long day, I received an official certificate and hug from my trainer - I am an instructor! Being a student then taking the instructor training has been an interesting experience. I'm glad that I was able to really learn the movements and have an idea of what the entire program feels like as a student before taking on the instructor training. I feel like I will be able to assist in the classes with more confidence and definitely more knowledge, after all I have the best Master Trainer in the business as my leader! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">For now I will work on putting together a few class plans and hopefully you will see me teaching Tabata Bootcamp in the spring! </span></div>
<div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The certificate and backpack makes it official! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Again, as I did last week I challenge you to try something new. <div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Saturday morning Scott, RJ and I met with up several of the Mom's Run This Town girls for one of our favorite local races, <a href="http://www.kumconline.org/_tertiary.cfm?idsContent=75&idsTertiary=107" target="_blank">The Shamrock Scurry</a>. The Scurry is an annual 5K event benefiting Killearn Methodist Church. Their event is extremely well organized and we look forward to participating each year. This year RJ ran the 1 mile fun run so he wouldn't burn out before his last basketball game later that day. Scott and I ran the 5K together. We each had a goal, Scott pushed me to try and get under the 27 minute mark. I encouraged him to beat his Scurry time from last year. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">MRTT of Tallahassee - Pre Scurry</span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The Scurry is hilly and tough! RJ had a great time during the fun run as did Scott and I during the 5K! It was so awesome to have RJ at the finish line waiting for us. He even snapped a finish line for me, so sweet! I finished with an official time of 26:19, Scott finished with an official time of 28:01…we all three had a new PR regardless of the big hill(s). The MRTT group had several PR's this year as well. Once everyone had finished we enjoyed a yummy pancake breakfast together. It was so fun to recap the race and enjoy a few more laughs together before everyone rushed off to other activities. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So proud of my hubby! </div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I have to share a funny story that came up during breakfast! My little friend Kara told her mom " I saw Ms. Mitzi and just followed her the whole time." I loved hearing that I was her bunny that morning and had helped her reach her own PR without even knowing it. Later in the day when the race photos were posted I realized she had actually beaten me to the finish line! I was her bunny until the last .1 miles, she wanted that PR and she pushed for it! This made my day, I can't think of a sweeter soul to have "beaten by". LOL! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Love these two sweet babies! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Shortly after all the Scurry excitement we headed to RJ's last basketball game. It was a close tough game that went into overtime! The parents were on the edge of our seats the entire game. Sadly, our team lost in the overtime. The kids played so well and so hard. It was a fun game, regardless of the score! He received the defensive star at the end of the game for not ever giving up on the court! RJ is already asking when he can play basketball again so we are currently researching camps and private lessons to get him ready for next year. For now we are focusing on the start of his baseball season, there's never a dull moment! </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Last Basketball Game</span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Speaking of baseball, the remainder of Saturday was spent on the first base line of Dick Howser stadium cheering on the FSU Seminole baseball team. The Seminoles lost in a not close game with Maryland; however, it was a gorgeous day. I loved spending the afternoon relaxing with my two guys! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The weekends when we cruise along from one activity to the next are always tough but fun at the same time!! I just love having the weekends with the two of them as I said before it is never a dull moment in our lives. </span></div>

Well, my son and I have both experienced this lately and what an amazing journey it has been for us all! </span><div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Back in the fall Riley begged me to let him play basketball this year. I was a little apprehensive of the idea since he had never played organized basketball. He dabbled with soccer at a young age and told me he hated it. Even when considering other sports opportunity he always wanted to play baseball. At one point he played Fall Ball, Spring Ball and Travel Ball….yep year round baseball. When he wasn't playing baseball he was watching it on TV. So when this idea of him trying a new sport came up I was unsure of his commitment; however, we have a rule in our house once you are signed up for something you complete it - like it or not! </span><div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In December Riley started playing basketball with Upward Bound, a christian based organization through First Baptist Church of Tallahassee. We decided that Upward was the best place for him as they focus on truly learning the sport of basketball through an encouraging and non-competitive aspect. Scott and I have been thrilled with this organization and I am sad we didn't discover them sooner! Riley has thrived throughout the past few months. Each practice ends with a devotion and bible study time. Most of the games have a small devotion during half time. Who could not love that?!?! Truthfully, the older teams are a little more competitive than we thought they would be but man can these kids play some basketball. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wdQtGvHQPHY/Uxh7jfQOuMI/AAAAAAAABnI/VmDk4wrppRk/s1600/1512330_10104055381429953_1619279939_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wdQtGvHQPHY/Uxh7jfQOuMI/AAAAAAAABnI/VmDk4wrppRk/s1600/1512330_10104055381429953_1619279939_n.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Scott and I with Riley after his first game! </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Riley has blossomed into a great player himself. There are days when we leave the court and think "where did he learn to move so quickly!". We have watched Riley make shots that happen so fast if you blink you would have missed it. This season has been a real joy to experience. We are heading into our last weekend of Upward Basketball and to be honest I think I am really going to miss it! I am so proud of Riley for pushing me (and his Dad) to let him out of the box we had him in and try something new! It's always funny to me when he puts his foot down; I am quiet certain I know where he learned that from! Every single time he proves to me he can do anything he sets his mind on accomplishing. </span></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JnG2JadJ4L8/Uxh7lLirKwI/AAAAAAAABnM/nDF7Vap17tM/s1600/1982015_10104238501181503_1454418464_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JnG2JadJ4L8/Uxh7lLirKwI/AAAAAAAABnM/nDF7Vap17tM/s1600/1982015_10104238501181503_1454418464_n.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Such a close WIN! </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">While we have been enjoying the weekends watching Riley play ball, I have been working towards a new out of the box adventure of my own. I am working toward the crossover from group fitness participant to group fitness instructor. Yep, you read that right, I-N-S-T-R-U-C-T-O-R! I have been studying the American Council of Exercise group fitness manual. That could be going a little smoother but I will be okay, there's still plenty of time to work on that! In the meantime, I am attending my first fitness certification this weekend. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Most of you know, I have been attending Tabata Bootcamp at <a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/" target="_blank">Badass Fitness</a> since May 2013. I remember <a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/2013/05/less-is-more/" target="_blank">Shannon</a> being so excited to bring this program to Tallahassee and being so nervous at the time when I signed for the first 8 week course. That first course taught me and the others that the program works. You put in the effort for 8 weeks and you see results! Tabata Bootcamp is not just a diet or a quick easy "fix" it is a lifestyle change. For me, the confidence that I gained since becoming a student of the program out measures inches that I lost. The scale this round has maintained a consistent number; however, I am stronger. I must mention that maintaining the number on the scale was my goal for this round of Tabata. I have tried to set different goals for all 3 rounds that I have completed and each time I have been successful. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Here I am almost a year after experiencing my first Tabata Bootcamp preparing for my own certification to become an instructor. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: x-small; font-style: italic;">EEK, typing that actually makes me want to throw up a little bit! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Thanks to an email from our Master Trainer, Shannon, I know exactly what to expect for Sunday's class. <span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">If you are having thoughts of getting out of the box and trying something new I encourage you do it! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I never in a million years dreamed this would be happening. I am so excited to see where it may lead in the future. For now, I will prepare myself for Sunday! </span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Each year Thomasville Road Baptist Church host's their 10/5K - 1 mile run event. This is always a fun well organized event! I have only been running for a few years. Back in 2011 I ran the 1 mile run with Riley, Scott, Cheryl and The Carter's. We finished one mile in 11:40. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Fast forward to March of 2013, I was coming off a month of rest after some struggles with my IT Band and a little apprehensive to run that day. Scott and I ran the 5K last year. I completed the 5K with a time of 33:18. I was delighted last year after such a successful race! Hit the fast forward button again and today I completed the TRBC 10K. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Here's the recap of the day...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I was a little nervous this morning as I had not put on those running shoes since last weekend's half marathon. I did have a great week of cross training and felt really good so there was no "real" reason for those nerves! I also woke up wishing for a little bit warmer weather, in hind sight, the weather today was perfect for running. It was 40 degrees at the start line, I will be wishing for that temperature come August! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I was minus my usually race partners. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">My husband and Riley decided to rest at home today. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Allison and Shannon who are both resting their knees and rehabbing from a case of runner's knee. Crystal spent some bonding time with her daughter at Badass Fitness instead of running. While I was missing my family and the Badass Babes, I did meet up with a large gathering of our local MRTT group. We had a blast hanging out in the recreation center prior to the race. These ladies are always so much fun to be around, they had me laughing all morning! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We started promptly at 8:30am and made our way through a few beautiful neighborhoods in our area. I am ashamed to say that I saw neighborhoods today that I had never seen before. It was a gorgeous route; however, it was hilly! If you are local and you've ever run up the entrance at Armistead then you totally understand, ha! I enjoyed running into our MRTT group along the course. It's always fun to cheer for each other during the race!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Before I knew it I was back on Thomasville Road and heading to the church. I knew I was close to finishing with a personal best so I kept myself focused by repeating my two favorite verses, Hebrews 12:1 and Philippians 4:13. I finished with a PR of 55:49!</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Fun comparison of 2011, 2013 and 2014! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As with all my races lately I have tried to "run for someone", today I ran for the Badass Babes. Allison and I started on this journey together back in 2011. We had no idea what we were doing, we just knew we needed to find a way to deal with the stress in our lives. Clearly, the stress was from different areas for each of us but nonetheless it was stress. We felt running was the way to do that. We had no real training and have learned along the way. Luckily, we started working out at <a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/" target="_blank">Badass Fitness</a> with Shannon. She shared her knowledge of running with us and taught us the importance of cross training. Shannon trained us, more importantly she quickly became a close friend. We have now been known as the Badass Babes for a little over a year. I am proud to be a part of such a beautiful team that believes in encouragement, empowerment and accomplishing all things through Christ. They are two of the strongest people I know, I know they want to run. They love to run and right now they can't! Both of them have suffered a case of runner's knee and are taking the correct steps to proper heal their knees. So today before I ran, I played our theme song Mandesa's Overcomer and sent them a little video. While I ran I prayed for each of them, different prayers of success and peace in coming days, weeks, months! I prayed that God would heal them and bring me back my rabbits! Today I dedicated my miles to my girls! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1iXVoJmtfAw/UxKQYG22ajI/AAAAAAAABmY/0xr8Y9JLsMc/s1600/1381576_10104137900645783_1795373892_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1iXVoJmtfAw/UxKQYG22ajI/AAAAAAAABmY/0xr8Y9JLsMc/s1600/1381576_10104137900645783_1795373892_n.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The Badass Babes </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Today was also awesome because so many of our MRTT group had a PR, either in the 5K or 10K! It was amazing to see everyone have such a blessed day. This might just become my favorite race, hehe! </span><br />

March goals will include the MRTT 1-min wall sit a day challenge, the continuation of our 100 pushups in 2014 and my 100 squats a day challenge. I'm also going to attempt 100 miles in March. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As many of you know I am an avid sports fan, what you may not know is that I <i style="text-decoration: underline;">love</i> baseball. It doesn't matter if it is my son playing ball, it is a high school game, if it is NCAA baseball or MLB baseball I love the game! This stems from growing up with a Grandmother and Grandfather who loved the Atlanta Braves. Some of my favorite memories in the later years with my Gram, as I called her, where the days we would take her to S. Florida to watch the Braves Spring Training games. She was at her happiest sitting on the 3rd base line watching ol' Chipper catch a ball or two! My Grandfather didn't mind yelling at the players on TV to let them know they missed a great play. He knew every statistic imaginable about his Braves! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So it makes perfect sense that I met Scott during baseball season and quickly realized he is an avid follower of the game as well. Of course, he likes my teams biggest rivals! That just adds an extra element of fun to our relationship! I cheer for his Marlins and Hurricanes as long as they aren't playing my Braves or Seminoles and vice versa. Truth be known, he cheers for my teams a lot more often since we go to so many local games. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This coming weekend provides a little extra fun in our home as we attend the annual three game series of the Hurricanes vs Seminoles. I always look forward to this series. Back in 2010 when we first met we spent several afternoons at the gym discussing the series, maybe it was my baseball knowledge that made the light go off in his head that made him realize I was a keeper!! <i><span style="font-size: x-small;">(His response to that comment will be interesting, hahaha)</span></i></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Since we have such a common love for the sport, I have always found it very appropriate that our first photo taken together was at a baseball game! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">7. <i>Shopping</i>… even when the sales clerks can't get my name right! The poor girl at Athleta must have been mortified and ready for us to get out of her dressing room! I'm also certain we left a lasting impression on the sweet lady at Claire's as well. </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">8. <i>The Start Line</i> ~ There were HEATERS! Can someone please find Donna and hug her for that! While it was warmer than last year, it was a bit chilly at 6:00am and I loved the heaters! The Start Line also provided some much needed laughter to calm my nerves. I couldn't hang out with the Badass Babes as planned but I was able to hang out with our fearless MRTT leaders, we giggled quite a bit even through the actually start line. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">9. <i>Cheerleaders</i>! We had the best cheerleaders on course… THE BEST! Who else had cheerleaders that got up at 4:30am, dropped them off at the start area then waited for them to finish. They are real gems! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">10. <i>The towns of Ponte Verde Beach and Atlantic Beach</i> ~ These people know how to have a good time! They literally paint the town pink and it's so amazing to receive all their encouragement along the way. They make the race so much more fun!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">11. <i>The Beach</i>!! Yes, while it slowed my pace quite a bit I consider it a highlight! The beach is one of my favorite places and allowed me time to reflect on the purpose that we were running for yesterday. It allowed me to shed tears of joy and sorrow. I praised God for a healthy body and yelled at my legs to get going! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">12. <i>The Bridge</i> ~ Again, it was a point of struggle and emotional breakdown! I knew two of my best friends were on that bridge and I had to get there. I am very scared of heights and sent them a text at the base of the bridge that I was scared. As I approached them, Allison came running up to remind me that I was (am) stronger and to get moving. Truth be known our friendship is very give and take, she knew exactly how to get me up there. Shannon dropped her sign and came to run <i>WITH</i> me down the other side. I had a side stitch and tired legs, they didn't let me quit. They encouraged me all the way, reminding me that this race wasn't about me but about others. They made sure I didn't let up in the last half mile. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">13. <i>The Finish Line</i> ~ This race is always emotional at the end. It's hard to avoid the tears when you end in the parking lot of the Mayo Clinic, one of the benefactors of the race itself. It's hard not to think of those that I was running for Sharon, Shannon H. and Ms. Carol plus so many others. It was hard not to release the emotion of realizing they had all pushed me. It</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> was hard not to squeeze the life out of Allison and Shannon for getting me up and down that bridge to the finish line! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">They pushed me to a new PR of 2:16:22! We</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> all accomplished quite a bit during that last 1.1 miles of The Donna, a moment that I will cherish for a lifetime! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">13.1. <i>Celebrating with my friends</i>! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">It was so awesome to see my best friend Crystal complete a goal that she held onto for an entire year. Crystal wanted so badly to RUN the race and she did! That won't be her last, she has the heart of a runner, now! It</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> was great to see Stephanie's face as she crossed the finish line of her first half marathon. Stephanie put in tons of time training and the preparation showed in her smile! </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This past weekend was simply amazing! We lived out Hebrews 12:1 before a crowd of strangers. We all showed our endurance and all praised God for allowing us a beautiful path yesterday. We each woke up today feeling blessed for our experiences this weekend, <i>maybe</i> even already planning for 26.2 with Donna 2015! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Thanks girls for a memorable weekend!! </span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05395110758100072118noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3364113809337747919.post-80891516839838837292014-02-20T21:51:00.002-05:002014-02-20T21:51:40.669-05:0013.1 awaits....<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eX7unPhdW-c/UwazNYzECyI/AAAAAAAABig/xTVpXxwfuak/s1600/262donnasmall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eX7unPhdW-c/UwazNYzECyI/AAAAAAAABig/xTVpXxwfuak/s1600/262donnasmall.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Wow... the <a href="http://breastcancermarathon.com/" target="_blank">26.2 with Donna The National Breast Cancer Marathon </a>is in two days! It seems like yesterday when we <a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2013/10/remembering-why-i-run.html" target="_blank">registered</a> for the race and now here we are on the eve of our road trip to Jacksonville. We've been training really hard for the half marathon and even added a team member in the final weeks of training. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I'm very humbled by the donations to our team. We were not able to reach our goal total but I am still very proud of our team! Way to go girls!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Our team will be short two Sole Sisters. During the last few weeks of training Shannon and Allison had issues with knee strain and both decided it was best not to run. I know how they feel having dealt with a similar issue last year; however, they are smart by sitting this one out. As Shannon says often "We gotta have our knees for the rest of our lives!" Being the awesome people that they are these two have decided to join us on Saturday for a little pre-race excitement. Not only do they want to pre-race party with us but they are going to cheer us along the race course! I can't wait to see my girls along the way. I have no doubt they will make sure people around them know who they are cheering for on Sunday morning! The CEO and VP of Group Fitness are the life of the party and will surely have their own great experience being the best cheerleaders E.V.E.R!!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This week during several workouts at the <a href="http://www.badassfitness.com/" target="_blank">Badass Fitness</a> studio the Mandisa song Overcomer has been played. Tonight while it was playing during our IndoRow class I couldn't hep but think about the upcoming race. I'm running a race to reach the finish line to receive my beautiful medal; however, several of the runners this weekend will be running a very different race than me. Many of the runners will be Breast Cancer Survivors, many will be honoring a loved one battling this disease, many will be running in memory of someone special they lost to Breast Cancer and many like me just want to support the cause and help find a cure! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/b8VoUYtx0kw" width="480"></iframe>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We are all Overcomer's, none more so than a cancer survivor and their families. Tonight as we rowed I just prayed for the ladies that I will be honoring this weekend. I prayed for Sharon Gant and her family as she battles every day. Sharon has shown her strength and faith since day one! She has Overcome every little surprise along the way with grace. I prayed for Shannon Harrill, a long time friend of my husband, who was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Shannon just had a very successful surgery and starts the reconstructive process very soon. Her family has rallied around her and she will Overcome this disease. I prayed for my friend Robin Bennett as she continues to grieve the loss her mother, Carol Butler. Robin had planned to run the half marathon this year but suffered a foot injury. In honor of Robin and her Mom, I will run those miles for her! These ladies all have the power of prayer behind each of them! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This weekend I will dedicate my 13.1 miles to these special ladies and a few others as well. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Yes, 13.1 may await me but many around me have bigger battles ahead of them. I'm looking forward to sharing a race weekend re-cap with you all early next week! We're hoping for great weather, at least by Sunday!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Have a great weekend! </span><br />

My review of Sunshine Burgers! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yDNwNMprf6I/UwP1_-CTFHI/AAAAAAAABiA/7sKqhy4EB5Q/s1600/1900028_663784256998454_293270694_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yDNwNMprf6I/UwP1_-CTFHI/AAAAAAAABiA/7sKqhy4EB5Q/s1600/1900028_663784256998454_293270694_n.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">#SUNSATIONAL is a great way to describe <a href="http://www.sunshineburger.com/" target="_blank">Sunshine Burgers</a>! I was a little apprehensive when Fit Approach offered the opportunity to be reviewer for the burgers. I had never tried anything like them and I am so glad I jumped out of my little box. My husband and I LOVE them! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Carol Debberman began making these little gems for her own children at home, since then Sunshine Burgers has become America's #1 brand organic veggie burger. Sunshine Burgers are made with certified organic ingredients. They are free of gluten, soy, corn, canola, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy or eggs. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We were so excited after we received our box of samples, we couldn't wait to give them all a try. My favorite was Garden Herb flavored burgers. The Garden Herb is the original recipe, no wonder it is the top seller! They were great when simply cooked as directed on the package and paired with a salad!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VzCLikOrSXM/UwP1BxCcwZI/AAAAAAAABhw/uR8nvkCPfZI/s1600/photo-19.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VzCLikOrSXM/UwP1BxCcwZI/AAAAAAAABhw/uR8nvkCPfZI/s1600/photo-19.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yumminess! </div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The burgers are very convenient for taking lunches to work. One day I added the Loco Chipotle to my salad for the day. Just a simple spinach mix salad with tomato, a little blue cheese and a vingeratte dressing. This may become my "go-to" meal of the week. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_tC1rPfE_us/UwP1MKZJUII/AAAAAAAABh4/29SUQcObka0/s1600/photo-20.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_tC1rPfE_us/UwP1MKZJUII/AAAAAAAABh4/29SUQcObka0/s1600/photo-20.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Lunch On The Go! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">That same evening my husband ate the other Loco Chipotle burger alongside a bowl of soup. This is by far his favorite. He loves a good spicy meal so this was perfect for him! Sadly, I forgot to get a photo of his awesome dinner. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Sunshine Burgers can be found in various locations such as Whole Foods and Publix. You can check out their website and use to the <a href="http://www.sunshineburger.com/find-a-store/" target="_blank">store locator</a> to find a retailer new you. I was very excited to spot these little boxes of flavor at our local Publix over the weekend. So much so that I might have danced a little then snapped this photo: </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l4Wrhpp7ElE/UwP3MiuAN1I/AAAAAAAABiM/5zR1eg2wBtg/s1600/photo-21.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l4Wrhpp7ElE/UwP3MiuAN1I/AAAAAAAABiM/5zR1eg2wBtg/s1600/photo-21.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In the frozen section... BBQ! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Well, I guess we will going to Publix to try that flavor next! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Notice how popular they are, the shelves are almost empty. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Also, on their website you will find a <a href="http://www.sunshineburger.com/category/recipes/" target="_blank">recipe section</a>. We've been on the go so much lately that we haven't had a chance to try any of these yet. I can't wait for life to slow a little bit so we can pick one to cook for the family! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Aside from the overall healthiness of these burgers, they are excellent. They will be a common item found in my freezer! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">So this is the week of Love, everything around us seems to be trying to get us to show others how much we love them. Our husbands, our children, our friends, etc.. I am a fan of Valentine's Day because I love surprising people; however, I love surprising others every other day of the year not just every February 14th. This excitement of surprising others comes from my Mom as she too loves a good surprise. She enjoys this not for herself but for the pure joy of seeing others around her feel loved and watch them smile. This could be why she is everyone's favorite GiGi! While I agree 100% that we need to show our loved ones how much we appreciate them we also need to show ourselves how much we love us! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This morning during our Tabata Bootcamp warm up Allison had us perform a unique exercise. We did four rounds of 20 second Tabata style squats with a partner, during each rest time we were to find a new partner. While we were with our partners we had to share one thing that we love about ourselves. Not only did we have to come up with one thing we actually had to come up with four as we were not allowed to repeat anything throughout the exercise. <i>WOW! </i>That seems so much easier when writing it out but participating in this drill was rough for me. I could come up with one but two, three and four were difficult! After we completed the four rounds Allison reminded us that we are own worst critics. She wanted us to take that minute or so of warm up to focus on the good things we can appreciate about ourselves and love on ourselves for a change. She had no way of knowing what my week had held for me; therefore, she had no way of knowing that I had to fight tears this morning while completing this simple warm up. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">You see this week has been full of comparison…both by myself and of me by others. I will spare you the ugly details and share only that this week I have come to realize that we all suffer from the pain of comparison and we need to stop. We need to stop comparing our past with our present, we need stop comparing our body style/shape to our neighbors, we only need to focus on ourselves and what we can accomplish. We have so many wonderful things to be thankful that it is a waste of time and energy to worry about the rest. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I also need to remember as a Christian the only comparison I should think about is being more Christ-like and relying on him to direct my path. I will never have something that I "want" without counsel and prayer about it first. During my reading yesterday in the devotion "Jesus Calling" I received a little smack in the face, see for yourself: </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gYph2plWbqM/UvuNSMCSG9I/AAAAAAAABhM/oDAFm0RGj2U/s1600/photo.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gYph2plWbqM/UvuNSMCSG9I/AAAAAAAABhM/oDAFm0RGj2U/s1600/photo.PNG" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">"<i>Collaborate with Me in this training</i>" is the line that grabbed my attention. If I would focus on his "wants" for my life I might not get where I want to be but I will certainly get where I need to be in my life. <span style="font-size: x-small; font-style: italic; text-decoration: line-through;">(maybe if I stepped away from the girl scout cookies I could accomplish this, too. Oops, that's a different post for a different day!)</span> I am going to do my best to refocus and not worry about that silly little word "comparison" and I hope you will do the same! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The remainder of this week while you are loving on those special folks in your life, don't forget about yourself! You are valuable and loved, too! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

To say that we had a blast, would not even do it justice!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QKWwGpKnwQU/Uu7AvOlc-7I/AAAAAAAABgI/1FP9dJGkE7A/s1600/16605_10104140738159383_372218184_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QKWwGpKnwQU/Uu7AvOlc-7I/AAAAAAAABgI/1FP9dJGkE7A/s1600/16605_10104140738159383_372218184_n.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Our crew was amazing! </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Most of us who volunteered are runners by hobby; however, we were not 100% sure to what to expect being on the "other" side of the table. I think it's safe to say we were all pleasantly surprised at how much fun we had cheering on friends and strangers. We were a tiny bit overwhelmed at the number of folks asking for Gatorade on their way out at the 2 mile mark. That overwhelming feeling did not stop us from working hard and serving all those runners to the best of our ability! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">By the time the runners got back to us, we were more than ready to welcome them back with cheers, hugs, water, Gatorade, cookies, candy, medicine or anything else they might need to finish the last mile or so of their races. Some of them just seemed to enjoy our silliness and wanted nothing except to exchange a smile and a high five! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">What did I take away from this experience today? I learned that our sport is in fact a team sport, we all need each other's encouragement to make it to the finish line sometimes! We were able to be a blessing to someone today, wow that's a pretty amazing feeling! I am reminded that my pace doesn't matter, just place one foot in front of the other and move. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Sharing this day with my love made it even better! </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">There are so many ways that we as runners can give back. We can volunteer for local races, we can donate our time to help plan local races, we canmake donations or we can run "for" someone. All of these are great opportunities to support your local running communities! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I am so happy to have spent the day giving back to our local running club today! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I'm excited to share with you a virtual race, <a href="http://stjudesheroeswarriorsforwilliam.weebly.com/run-for-hope-virtual-5k10k.html" target="_blank">Run for Hope 5/10K</a>, being hosted by one of my best friends and her running buddies. <span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">You may recall from October that I was chosen as an </span><a href="http://livinglovingandrunning.blogspot.com/2013/10/love-chocolate-me-too.html" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;" target="_blank">ambassador</a><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> for the </span><a href="http://www.hotchocolate15k.com/atlanta/" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;" target="_blank">Hot Chocolate 15/5K</a><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> event in Atlanta, GA. I enjoyed promoting the event, RAM Racing was a great company to work with during the months leading up to the race! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The past weekend the BadassBabes made our trek to Atlanta to participate in the HC15K. Our ride there was nothing short of epic. </span><br />

Off we go! </div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">After resting a bit on Saturday we headed for the expo, thankfully it was located across the street from our hotel. We didn't have to spend much time outside in the 30 degree weather! The expo was small, which we expected but was packed full of fun and treats! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Once everyone had their packet and bib, we headed out to do a little shopping. We attempted to shop around the Atlantic Station area, did I mention it was 30 something degrees? Yeah, it was cold! We opted for indoor shopping at Lenox. There were many good sales and the Badass Babes found some sweet deals! We ended the evening with a little surprise birthday dinner for Erin / pre-race dinner for everyone else! </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Lovely dinner dates! </span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The alarm went off at 4:30am on Sunday... 4:30am! We had been warned of terrible traffic getting to Turner Field and decided we didn't want to get caught up in all that. So we loaded up the Suburban with the Babes and off we went. There was no traffic...we arrived at Turner Field at 5:30am, we left the hotel at 5:15...FAIL! We could've slept another hour, this brought on much silliness for the next few hours in the car together! The clock finally struck 7:15am and it was time to wish our girl Ashley well in the 5K. Then the rest of us made our way to the start line for the 15K. Thankfully the race started right on time and we didn't have to stand around in the 30 degree weather for very long. We wound our way through the neighborhoods of the midtown and uptown areas of Atlanta. It was a beautiful run, very hilly but fun! The last few miles were on the downtown streets past the beautiful gold domed Georgia Capital. The finish line was just outside the former outfield fence of the original Braves Stadium, being a Braves fan I thought this was very neat. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I finished with a 15K PR of 1:36 and headed straight for my finishers mug full of sweet treats. They call it the "Sweetest Race" and they lived up to their name. We received a mug full of goodies, including the best Hot Chocolate that I have had in quite a while. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Overall the experience was awesome! RAM Racing knows how to put on a great event from the ease of registration to keeping everything so well organized on race day with 20,000 people at the event. I hope to be able to keep working with them in the future as ambassador for the next event in our area. If you have a chance to run a Hot Chocolate 15K near you, I highly recommend participating! </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">After a quick shower we all changed into our awesome HC15K sweatshirts that were part of our goodie bags! Then we had a yummy lunch and the Badass Babes made our way down I-85 south back to Tallahassee. This time we had two cars so we split up. I'm certain we left our mark at the gas station just north of Lumpkin, GA. The fake argument between myself and Shannon had everyone rolling!! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The poor people in Coolidge, GA are probably still talking about the three girls running around the white car during a fire drill, oh yeah at a green light!</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This weekend provided much downtime and laughter that we all needed. It's been a stressful few weeks for the Badass Babes and we let loose! Next up for us is the<a href="http://breastcancermarathon.com/" target="_blank"> 26.2 with Donna</a> (half marathon) in Jacksonville, FL on February 23rd. The stories from that road trip are always good so stay tuned! </span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05395110758100072118noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3364113809337747919.post-79978442955026277062014-01-22T10:08:00.002-05:002014-01-22T10:08:26.183-05:00Bowlegs 5K<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This year I have decided to run 14 races in 2014. The only difference between this year and last year is I will be including races of all distances! The first of those races came this past weekend at the Billy Bowlegs 5K. This race is held annually at the FSU/FAMU College of Engineering. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The Bowlegs 5K benefits a scholarship fund within the College of Engineering. I love supporting all things FSU, including academics. Crystal and I decided to run this race at the last minute. As the week progressed we realized the weather was going to be a little colder than we hoped for but we agreed to run regardless of the temps. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Saturday morning came along and the temps were in low 30's, actually it was 27 at the start. Before you roll your eyes and laugh at us, remember that's cold for us Florida girls. We grabbed our gloves, bondi bands and running jackets then headed to the start line. The race started right one time, always a good thing! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The race course took us through the Innovation Park area of FSU's campus. It was a great course, very hilly but fun. I appreciated the areas with direct sunlight as it helped me battle the chilly temps a little better. I did have to walk up one of the bigger hills, my legs just felt tight! That tightness didn't stop me from grabbing a PR to kickoff the 5K racing season. I finished with a time of 27:36, an average pace at 8:48. Clearly the cold weather makes me move a tad faster!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As you can see we were bundled up but still smiling!! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This 5K provided the perfect opportunity to test my cold weather running gear. Our BadassBabes crew is heading to Altanta for the Hot Chocolate 15/5K this weekend. The race temps will rival the temps from Saturday. I think based on my last few cold weather running experiences I am prepared with the correct gear. Thankful for my Nike compression pants and my YMX long sleeve top!! </span></div>
